  4.    ^variantname supports the following protocols internally for use
  5. in both downloading and uploading messages and files:
  6. <X>modem and <Y>modem.

  8.    The external protocols which are supported for Downloading messages

  13.    The external protocols which are supported for Uploading messages

  18.    The only distinction between "internal" and "external" protocols, so far
  19. as you, the user, are concerned is that external protocols may take a short
  20. time (1-10 seconds) to load from disk, while internal protocols should begin
  21. immediately.  You ask for external protocols in the same way you use internal
  22. protocols -- using the character between the "<" and ">".
